In a career spanning 20 years with the World Bank, Mr. Chikosi held various operational, management and strategy roles within the World Bank Group delivering development solutions for client countries through demand led analytical work, high level policy dialogue with governments and advising the World Bank Board internally on corporate strategy and forward-looking initiatives. He oversaw a threefold growth of the Bank’s investment portfolio in Southeast Asia and a 40 percent improvement in its performance as chair of committees that shaped the Bank’s operational strategy and investment portfolios in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand.
Mr. Chikosi led technical and diplomatic negotiations with the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Finance Minister of Mauritius to set up a regional knowledge hub in Kuala Lumpur and a new World Bank office in Port Louis. He led multidisciplinary teams that delivered high impact knowledge and financial products and presented proposals to the Board of the World Bank on business strategies in Thailand, Malaysia, Mauritius and Botswana. Mr. Chikosi advised the government of Mauritius’ on its policy responses to the 2008 global financial crisis and on improving its global ranking in the “Ease of Doing Business” through analytical work and policy dialogues with the authorities at the highest level.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Chikosi was based in Westminster, London leading teams that advised Commonwealth governments on globally competitive fiscal and legal frameworks for foreign investment in oil, mining and gas sectors. Prior to that he worked as a new business development executive for a global mining company and as non-executive Vice President of the Geneva-based World University Service.
Currently, Mr. Chikosi serves on the Board and the Strategy Committee of Mauritius Commercial Bank Group, the largest bank in Mauritius and listed on the local stock exchange. Mr. Chikosi is also a Board Member at Strand Hanson Ltd, a London-based investment bank.
Mr. Chikosi is a lawyer, a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of INSEAD Business School.
